Loan successfully funded
Vivaldi is saving lives on Bogota, Colombia’s public bus network by installing and maintaining Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The 4 million per day bus users already have access to 110 AEDs installed by Vivaldi since November 2024. They now need capital for more units to expand the coverage across the bus network to ensure more travellers have access to this life saving technology.

Vivaldi’s mission is to make easier the job of caring and saving lives. This AED installation program, undertaken under their brand Amigo Corazón, is one way they are delivering this mission.
There are more than 60,000 annual deaths from cardiovascular causes in Colombia, a significant proportion of which are sudden cardiac arrests. Approximately 70% of cardiac arrests occur outside hospital settings. Survival without rapid intervention is below 10%. With the availability of AEDs and proper training, survival can increase substantially, potentially reaching up to 70% under optimal conditions.
Colombia has established legislation regarding the installation and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public places through two key pieces of legislation: Law 1831 of 2017 and Decree 1465 of 2019. These regulations represent one of the most progressive approaches to public access defibrillation in Latin America and mandate not just the installation of units but also training of key personnel.
Amigo Corazón, was launched by Vivaldi in 2012 to focus on cardiac health and install AEDs across Colombia. This makes them an experienced partner for organisations who are legally obligated to install AEDs such as the client for this loan, Transmilenio, the operator of Bogota bus network.
As part of the contract with Transmilenio they began rolling out units in the network in November 2024 and currently have 110 installed, and have trained relevant personnel. They now need financing for the next 20 which will provide increased network coverage.
For Amigo Corazón it is not just about fulfilling legal obligations and having the units available, but it is changing the culture around emergency preparedness and with that changing lives.
The Bogota bus network AED roll out is one part of what Amigo Corazón does to fulfil Vivaldi’s broader mission. To date, Amigo Corazón has installed over 2500 units across Colombia and trained over 15000 people in their use.
The activities funded by this loan are helping to achieve the above Sustainable Development Goals as defined by the UN.
With the loan capital, Vivaldi will be able to continue to expand coverage of installed AEDs across the Bogota bus network and provide access to this life saving technology to 4 million travellers per day for years to come. Travellers and bus network staff will have raised awareness of, and the ability to, take action in times of emergency which is all part of the broader Vivaldi mission. Key metrics of the project will be: * successful installation of the AEDs across the Bogota Bus Network * excellence in maintenance and monitoring of units so all are working 100% of the time. Vivaldi can also see if the AEDs are used and can collect data on lives saved.
