This loan funds the expansion of Shal Kaung; a porridge based instant snack which brings much needed nutrition to a variety of markets including; children, elderly and those in conflict zones. Growing the brand also focuses on employing young people providing much needed job opportunities.

Tun Yat has successfully developed, marketed and is selling an instant snack food set of products under its Shal Kaung brand. The product offering is a nourishing convenient instant porridge (with chicken and fish flavours), together with a seasoning soup / curry powder (Rakhine flavouring). No artificial flavoring (real fish is used), with higher protein and fiber content, gluten-free content, and rice sourced locally, made by local youth.
The product was began development in 2022 as a gap in the market was identified for a locally made porridge based snack food:
Developing added value products is also essential to create more propsperity within the agriculture sector rather than only selling finished crops.
Since 2023 the focus has been distribution and they are now listed in 5 Grocery chains in Myanmar and Thailand as well as convenience stores and markets.
The next phase is to continue to scale by investing and leveling up in three key areas: Increased production, Sales and Marketing, and operations.
